Pneumonia is a serious lung infection that is caused by bacteria known as streptococcus pneumonia. The researchers studied older age mice, both before and after they were injected with the bacteria in order to determine the effects of Pneumonia as well as derive possible cures. They fed the mice with different levels of Vitamin E over a period of four weeks before the infection was actually transmitted into them. For the purpose of the study, the mice were also divided into two different groups, an experimental group that was fed a significantly larger amount of Vitamin E and a control group that was fed the usual amounts of Vitamin E. The study examined the lungs of these mice and tested for the damage caused by the disease. It was ultimately revealed that the mice had 1000 times lesser bacteria and double the amount of white blood cells after being administered with Vitamin E.
